Storyscope is fearless when it comes to crafting relevant story. Our motivation is to make our characters shine on the screen and enter into the hearts of audiences in Africa and across the globe.
We have unlocked a wealth of proven experience across the media value chain in both the fiction and non-fiction spaces. We are highly motivated to unleash the potential of emerging and established South African storytellers, and nurture a creative space where the best ideas are given every opportunity to thrive.
Storyscope is also a partner in Moon Valley Studios in Johannesburg; a dynamic studio hub, with a core joint vision of building a creative accelerator for content entrepreneurs in a collaborative environment.
Storyscope’s Canadian/South African co-produced documentary, “Influence” (directed by Richard Poplak and Diana Neille), a global-trotting political thriller in a time where democracy is up for sale, is in official competition at Sundance 2020.
Between Storyscope’s founding partners – Neil Brandt, Laura Colucci, Thandi Davids and Lauren Clifford-Holmes – they have developed, produced, commissioned and distributed hundreds of hours of fiction and non-fiction content on broadcast, theatrical and SVOD platforms. Including Al Jazeera, ARTE, VPRO, MTV, Sundance Channel, BBC, PBS, ZDF, NHK, CGTN, FX, National Geographic Channel and Fox Channels, among others.
Storyscope is comfortable working across content genres, cultures and timezones and is passionate about nurturing authentic African voices that challenge stereotypes. Storyscope’s current production and development slate includes factual, fiction and advocacy projects underway with CBC Canada, Arte France, CGTN China, A&E USA, SABC, eTV and MNET.
While StoryScope’s core focus is independent productions and original intellectual property (IP), it also works on commissions that speak to its value system; providing end-to-end audio-visual solutions best suited to the communication needs of its commercial and advocacy clients including the European Union, UNICEF and the Global Coalition to End Child Violence.
StoryScope is committed to a collaborative and structured creative process, working with the best available talent in ways that ensures synergy between concept, creation and what eventually ends up on screen!
